HISTORY

Able to Serve was founded in 2003 as a 501(c)(3) organization to provide people with disabilities opportunities to actively participate in the community. We began with a donated, used wheelchair accessible van that could transport one person to church, social events, family gatherings, or doctor’s appointments. In 2009, we expanded our services to include continuing education, life skills training, creative arts, social events, and hands-on community service projects.

Today, Able to Serve serves both Wake and Johnston County residents, has 1 wheelchair accessible van, two 15 passenger vans, with a capacity to transport 37 individuals.

We are a proud member of NC Center for Nonprofits, the Garner Chamber of Commerce, and the Greater Cleveland Chamber of Commerce, and the Garner Morning Rotary Club.
